The RMS PTA is an independent, volunteer-run organization dedicated to enhancing the Reston Montessori community through events and activities that connect students, families and teachers; promote the welfare of our children; and support the school as an exceptional and caring environment for learning. Your PTA membership dues help support these activities and much, much more ... What are the annual membership dues and benefits of joining the RMS PTA? PTA membership dues are just $15 per family. As part of your membership, you get a free school directory (a $20 value) and a $10 discount on each child signed up for “Pizza Friday.” So, really, membership pays for itself! Plus, by joining the PTA you have the satisfaction of knowing your dues are supporting the many social,educational and school-improvement activities the PTA sponsors (see above). What are “Pizza Fridays” and how do I sign up? Starting on Friday, October 2 and continuing every Friday throughout the school year, the RMS PTA coordinates lunchtime pizza delivery to all older toddler, primary, and elementary classrooms. Much loved by students, teachers and parents alike, it’s the one day a week you don’t have to make lunch! The cost for the year is $85/student ($75/student for PTA members), which comes to just $2.20 per Friday lunch—a real deal! To sign up your child, simply complete the yellow PTA membership/pizza registration form (available on the PTA bulletin board near the front door) and return it by September 30 with a check made out to “RMS PTA.” If you are interested in helping out with pizza delivery, please contact Pizza Coordinator Nancy Cazenas at ncazenas@navigationarts.com. What are the monthly “2nd Wednesday” PTA meetings all about? The PTA invites all RMS parents/families to join us for a monthly meeting on topics of interest to the RMS community such as family fitness, healthy sleep and eating habits, dealing with family transitions and raising young readers. Each year we also organize a panel of RMS alumni to discuss their RMS experiences and “life after RMS.” PTA meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday (starting October 14) from 7:30-9:00 pm at the school.
